Activities Sailing in Texas
There are many interesting things to see and do in Texas. We are based in a marina on Clear Lake Shore, Kemah, Houston. This about two miles from Galveston Bay, a vast open strech of water that is ideal for learning to sail. Winds are usually light and the weather warm, although large temperature changes are not uncommon. It can go from 70°F to 45°F in a matter of minutes as a front passes through, although it will be back to 70°F a couple of hours later.

A five hour sail away is Offats Bayou, a splendid anchorage at the coastal town of Galveston. Here you can visit Moody Gardens, a series of huge glass pyramids that contain a Butterfly House, an Aquarium and a Tropical Rainforest. Galveston has a host of interesting places and things to see, including the 1877 Tall Ship Elissa, the last trading Barque schooner left in this part of the world. She is a three masted sailing ship with an iron hull built in Aberdeen, Scotland, and still sails in the Gulf of Mexico.

We can drive you into Houston to see the Johnson Space Centre. Here you can visit the huge buildings where the Space Shuttle is actually built. This is wonderful experience and well worth the 15 minute queue to get in. The Houston Rodeo ( in March ) is another great event for kids aged 6 to 96!

Also shown below is our petrol engined blender, which is a source of much fun and great drinks!
